My Mom made this small jointed doll. She is about 8 inches tall. My Mom didn't actually make her FOR me, but I begged that I could have it. I love the delicate dress and the tiny lace. One day, I say this plate in one of my favorite stores: Home Goods, of course it was meant to be mine. I had the little art pallet and glued a small ring of elastic on the back. The plate and doll look like they were meant to be together, don't they? Thanks Mom and Home Goods! Two Great Places to Be!

"Summer Pears"

"Summer Pears" is a 11" by 14" soft pastel on Wallis paper and  is now for sale at the Arizona Art Alliance Gallery in Scottsdale, AZ. I am loving this color palette! It is similar to my oil painting of a glass of lemonade that is also in gallery.

It is HOT, HOT, HOT here in Arizona! So I painted this refreshing tall glass of lemonade. The bright red and white straw, a lemon slice and a sprig of mint makes me thirsty! I titled the painting "Something Cool to Drink". It is an oil and measures 24" tall by 12" wide. I'm actually really enjoying looking at this painting, if I do say so myself!
I hope that you are enjoying your summer and can get a "cool" refreshment too.

I don't care what I paint...it is always fun. Especially painting this 4 foot tall "Yoda" for some friends for their girls camp mascot. As long as I get to hold a brush in my hand and mix around a bunch of paint, I am happy.

My good friend Jaxine Cummins took this photograph of this darling little boy this last Saturday evening at the reception for the Az Art Alliance's "Touch It, Feel It. Lovin' Art" show. All the artwork in a special marked section is allowed to be touched. It must have made a difference as the sales have really picked up, I sold "Excitement" a week ago! The painting that this cute fellow is examining is titled "A Good Day" it is 11" x 14" and is a mixed media and is for sale for $190. 30% of all sales at the gallery go to our wonderful outreach programs, so that makes a sale even more special. The show runs thru July 1st.

The gallery will be having a reception for this show Saturday, May 12th, from 6pm to 9pm.
I would love it if you could stop by and see the wonderful art and of course...me!

Limited Edition Scrabble Tile Art Jewelry

I have finally created some very limited editions of art jewelry from my Scrabble tile collection. I sacrificed making all kinds of non-art words to create these special pieces. The "Artsy Fartsy" necklace is an adjustable length and available in my Etsy shop. (see side bar to enter my shop)...

This is a fabulous necklace that can be worn as a bracelet! Just unclasp the chain and WaLa! Two pieces of jewelry in one! I have an "Artist" and "Create" available at the AZ Art Alliance Gallery in Scottsdale, and an "Artist" available in my Etsy shop "Kelley Smith Originals and Fabulousities".
This necklace is made from the very hard to find old reddish Scrabble tiles. It's chain measures 17" and is very light. You would hardly know that you are wearing it. I have kept a necklace for myself and when I wear it, I get the most compliments and it has been a great conversation starter! (my family thinks that I do not need any type of conversation starters as they say I will talk to anybody, even in the line at the grocery store. But I think that is what life is all about, don't you?)
